Vernonia noveboracensis – New York Ironweed

Native to the eastern U.S., New York Ironweed compliments a host of other native plants like Black Eyed Susans, Solidago and tall native grasses. it reaches 4-7′ high with intense purple-red flowers. New York Ironweed can tolerate almost any soil type and prefers sunny to partly shady locations in the garden. Plant 30″ apart.
